(New York, NY, December 10, 2024)—The Board of Trustees of The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that it has elected Carole Moran as an Honorary Trustee. The election took place at the December 9, 2024 meeting of the Board and was announced by Candace K. Beinecke and Hamilton (“Tony”) E. James, Co-Chairs of the Museum’s Board of Trustees.
“It gives us great pleasure to welcome Carole Moran as an Honorary Trustee,” said Board Co-Chairs Beinecke and James. “Carole has been an active supporter of The Met for a long time, and we look forward to collaborating to advance the Museum’s mission in her new role.”
Carole Moran
Carole Moran is the widow of the late John Moran, who was an Honorary Trustee of The Met from 2008 until his death in 2023. She is a trustee of the John A. Moran Charitable Trust, a director of the Palm Beach Zoo, and a trustee of the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach.
At the Museum, Mrs. Moran is a Benefactor, Chairman’s Council Member, Friend of Ancient Near Eastern Art, Wrightsman Fellow, and Friend of Greek and Roman Art: Philodoroi.
Together with her late husband, Mrs. Moran has been an active supporter of the Museum, giving generously to major institutional initiatives and acquisitions. The Morans were donors to Greek and Roman Art, naming the John A. and Carole O. Moran Curatorship in Charge and the John A. and Carole O. Moran Gallery for Art of the Later Roman Empire; Egyptian Art, supporting acquisitions and an excavation at Malqata; and Photographs, enabling the acquisition of important 19th-century archaeological photographs, many by Girault de Prangey. They supported numerous other funds and events over the years.
