(New York, June 4, 2025) From June 10 through October 19, 2025, The Metropolitan Museum of Art will host P.S. Art 2025: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids, its annual juried exhibition of artwork by prekindergarten through grade 12 students from New York City public schools across all five boroughs. To commemorate the exhibition's opening, The Met will host a ceremony for students, parents, and teachers at 5 pm on Tuesday, June 10, with remarks at 5:30 pm, at The Met Fifth Avenue in the Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education, coinciding with the city's Museum Mile Festival.
The exhibition will feature 138 works chosen from over 950 submissions spanning mediums including painting, mixed-media, and sculpture. The works were selected by a panel of distinguished members of the New York City art community, including the late artist Tony Bechara and staff at The Met. The selection of artworks represents students’ vision and voice, demonstrating their creativity and observation through various mediums.
P.S. Art 2025: Celebrating the Creative Spirit of NYC Kids is a project of the New York City Public Schools and Studio in a School NYC.
Heidi Holder, Frederick P. and Sandra P. Rose Chair of Education at The Met, said: “The Met is honored to show the work of these NYC artists, and grateful to the families, educators and others who encourage their creative exploration. As artists solve problems to reach creative goals, they develop empathy, critical thinking, and new modes of expression that promise exciting artistic futures for the City and the world beyond it. I can’t wait to see what these young people do next!”
In conjunction with the exhibition, Times Square Advertising Coalition (TSAC) will host a two-weeklong digital art presentation showcasing 43 of the works in the show, displaying digital reproductions of the artworks on OUTFRONT’s iconic screen, The Cube, on 2 Times Square in Duffy Square. The kick-off event is scheduled for June 17th at 11AM, featuring remarks by city officials and student artists. The P.S Art 2025 works on view in Times Square also will be exhibited at The Authority Midtown Bus Terminal Art Gallery, located at 625 8th Ave. and 40th St. near 9th Avenue end of the terminal. Date and time for the exhibition is to be determined this year.
“Art is a powerful tool to nurture our student's creativity and identities," said Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos. "Through our partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art, students across all grade levels are given an inspiring opportunity to showcase their talents in one of the world’s most iconic cultural institutions. The PS Art exhibition not only celebrates the artistic achievements of our young people, but it reminds us that their voices, talents, and contributions to our city matter. We are very proud and deeply grateful for this annual collaboration.”
David Weiner, Interim President, Studio in a School NYC, said: “P.S. Art 2025 highlights the transformative role of arts education in the lives of young people. Through the arts, students are inspired to dream, imagine and explore, all while gaining invaluable social and emotional skills. Each and every piece in this year's exhibition is a testament to the power of the visual arts. On behalf of Studio in a School NYC, I congratulate the student artists featured in this show for their creative achievements. With much appreciation I thank The Met and NYC Public Schools for their outstanding and enduring partnership.”
The Met will provide admission passes to the Museum to all student artists represented in the exhibition to encourage them to return frequently during the course of the show.
The P.S. Art exhibition is just one of the many ways in which the Museum fosters the creativity and education of New York City students. Each year, The Met provides free visits to more than 88,000 New York City public school students, and more than 1,000 New York City public school teachers and administrators participate in professional development workshops at the Museum.
Select works in the exhibition will also be featured on The Met website, as well as on social media using the hashtag #PSArt2025.
