Photograph Conservation and the Indian Conservation Fellowship Program

Photograph Conservation staff maintain close relationships with other professionals in cultural heritage institutions both at home and abroad, and regularly partner with colleagues on conservation and historic preservation projects.

Photograph Conservation participated in the successful Indian Conservation Fellowship Program, welcoming and providing advanced training for Indian conservators in cultural heritage preservation. The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), the Stichting Restauratie Atelier Limburg (Maastricht, the Netherlands), and the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery (Washington, DC), with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, were pleased to offer the Indian Conservation Fellowship Program to Indian citizens engaged in the conservation of works of artistic and cultural heritage in collections under their care.

Fellowships were designed to broaden the experience of conservators currently working in art and cultural heritage museums and institutions in India. Photograph Conservation was fortunate to host three Indian colleagues and continues to benefit from this rich exchange.
