对兽纹地毯

这件有高度几何化图案的羊毛地毯代表了一种曾流行于欧洲的早期编织传统，在欧洲十四和十五世纪的教堂及同一时期的绘画里都可以见到类似的地毯。事实上，一幅十五世纪早期的锡耶纳绘画中曾描绘有相同图案的地毯，我们因此可以得知这件作品的制作时期。从如此早的时期流传至今的完整地毯全世界仅有三件，这是其中之一。其大型对面兽中又有小型动物的纹样可能借鉴了同一时期的纺织艺术品。后来十六世纪的土耳其地毯结合了花卉和植物图案，以及独特的风格化星形和团花纹样。
