渡边淳弥把他的2000 – 2001年秋冬季服饰称作“工艺时装”。这件套装采用了创新的布料，其巨大的蜂窝状皱领的华丽装饰独具匠心，颇费人工，整套服装是手工和实验的结合。皱领与裙子是分开的，可以折叠成一个小的环状长方形存放进一个信封里。裙子是一件无袖紧身衣，有窄敞口褶边，其样式在腰部和臀围处制造了成角度的隆起，给人感觉仿佛是不小心造成的歪斜。裙子中融入这个“瑕疵”，表明了设计者那颇具颠覆性的美学观。
