Chinese, for British market

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 512

The decoration, in a light underglaze blue, features the impaled arms of Edward Harrison (1674–1732) and his wife, Frances Bray. The rendering of the arms by means of a few pseudo-engraved lines and written abbreviations is believed to be unique to this service.
