The Maynard Dish

Paul de Lamerie British

Not on view

The extraordinary originality of the border of this dish shows the virtuosity of an anonymous chaser who worked for the very successful master Paul de Lamerie. The dish, which very likely had a ewer to match, is decorated with representations of the four elements in a highly inventive rococo style that incorporates extreme naturalism with abstract and organic motifs.
