Eurythmics, a kind of rhythmic gymnastic exercise done with music, was invented in 1903 by the Swiss musician Émile Jacques-Dalcroze as a tool for musical education. The technique was later adapted in the field of dance, and popular interest led to its use as a motif for decorative arts in the early twentieth century.
