"Two Tone Cone"

Designer Peter Shire American

Not on view

Intrigued by Shire’s sculptural and geometric teapots, Ettore Sottsass invited the Los Angeles-based architect and designer to work with the Memphis group in Milan. This teapot reflects both Shire’s interest in revolutionizing pottery design and the Memphis goal to create functional objects with historic or symbolic meaning and emotional appeal. It was produced in various colorways and recalls the Bauhaus in its composition of pure geometric volumes and the Wiener Werkstätte in its handmade production and patterning.
