Scarab with New Year's wish

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 130

The hieroglyphs and motifs engraved on the base of this scarab express a wish for the New Year. The inscription calls upon the sun god, referred to here by the image of the solar barque, to make every day of the New Year good.
