Crown

Chavín

Not on view

This sheet worked in repoussé was originally curved into the shape of a crown. Two sets of perforations on the lateral edges would have been used to attach it to a textile backing. The central figure appears in the upright stance of a human but has animal attributes, including feline fangs, raptor claws, and a belt and hair in the form of snakes.
