Pendant

Not on view

In addition to recarving jade objects from Mesoamerica, artists in what is now central Costa Rica fashioned works such as this stacked-figure pendant. The upper figure of this irregularly shaped form has an anthropomorphic body and a crocodilian head. The lower half of the pendant depicts another anthropomorphic figure, a creature that may be a bird, and an upside-down felid, or a wild cat.
