Shabti of Djedkhonsuefankh

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 130

This worker shabti belonged to an Overseer of the Double Granary named Djedkhonsuefankh. The figure is mummiform, and stands with arms crossed, holding a hoe in each hand. A fillet is tied around the head, and the inscription down the center of the body refers to the owner as an Osiris (associating him with the ruler of the realm of the dead), then gives his title and name.
