The Grass Munchers

Urs Fischer Swiss

Not on view

The artist cast his own arms and clavicle for this work. Differently hued, disembodied hands support or pull at the central figure, and their touch resists the prescription of a simple, complete narrative. The work demonstrates the artist’s interest in classical statuary—especially in its fragmentary state when it is often missing arms, legs, and hands—and invites the viewer’s engagement in conjuring contexts for the work.
