The Three Gorges

Fu Baoshi Chinese

Not on view

This superb painting of the Three Gorges of the Yangzi River captures the force, sweep, and flow of the river, and the light and atmosphere of the landscape. The distance, near and far, is well articulated with contrasting light and shade. An overall emphasis on the spatial relationship of motifs enhances the painting’s structural integration and pictorial unity.
