Designer L. Wilson

Not on view

This ensemble, along with 2009.300.81a–c, exemplify the ongoing fascination with paisley shawls and the practice of making clothing from them that endured into 20th century. The maker of this ensemble put the shawl's patterning to good use by aligning it with the design of the dress. The center of the shawl is the bodice and the sleeves are cut-in-one with the bodice to allow the pattern to show to its very edges.
