A Martyred Saint

Italian, Florence

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 500

A pendant to this enamel, with another martyred saint holding a book and a palm frond, was formerly in the Figdor Collection in Vienna. The size and shape of these plaques indicate that they were originally attached to the arms of a cross.
