Terracotta lekythos (oil flask)

Attributed to the Painter of the New York Hypnos

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 171

Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death) transporting the body of a dead youth

Despite the incomplete and damaged condition of the vase, it is remarkable for the sensitivity of the drawing and for the preserved polychromy.
