Pectoral

Sonso

Not on view

For several centuries large chest-sized pectorals of gold were made in ancient Colombia in different styles. Many were plain--virtually without decoration of any sort--relying completely on shape and surface for presence and character. This pectoral is unadorned, except that it has a thin strap winding through the central suspension hole at the top. The strap is a visually successful complement to the elegant simplicity of the pectoral.
