The conceit of a drinker looking over a cup is preserved on two major vases by Euphronios and may be considered his invention. Contemporary artists like the Ashby Painter adopted it. Here, the youth holds the flutes for a flute player as she binds her hair. On the other side, a youth holds a drinking cup and a drinking horn while the flute player performs.
