Not on view

Umbrellas and parasols had become established fashion accessories in the 18th century. This chic and finely made umbrella makes for a very handsome accoutrement, with its very slender, sheathed form, finely burnished burl, and fixtures in what appears to be 14K gold. As today, well made accessories are important to the well dressed, and this umbrella was a sign of a well dressed and well heeled individual.
