Matching handbag and shoes were de rigueur for the well dressed woman in the mid 20th century. Due to the differing demands of use, however, the shoes were often discarded long before the bag, hence intact sets are comparatively rare. Made by two top-end American companies, this conservative but high-quality set features luxurious alligator leather with gold metal details carried through all the pieces. Lucille de Paris was a New York-based company which specialized in the use of alligator and other exotic skins.
