Evening coat

Designer Giraut-Sirie French

Not on view

The distinctive embroidery pattern on this evening coat is created by hand with laid and overstitched silver cord, a labor intensive process. The design configuration and the coat's construction allude to traditional Middle Eastern robes and is an example of the interest in orientalism at that time.
