Corner of a Linen Pall

New Kingdom

Not on view

This linen fragment is the corner of one of two palls that covered coffin III in the tomb of Hatnefer. It is inscribed in ink with the words "Treasury of Truth," or perhaps "True Treasury," and has a woven linen mark in the form of a headrest. The pall was a loosely woven linen sheet 17 feet long (520 cm) and 4 1/2 feet wide (140 cm).
