Plaque with Seated Khonsu and Inscribed with a Blessing
Third Intermediate Period–Late Period
The back of the oval plaque shows a representation of a seated falcon-headed deity, holding a sign of life (ankh) on his knees and wearing a broad collar. He is identified as the god Khonsu by the lunar disk resting in a crescent placed on his head.
The underside of the seal-amulet is inscribed with a blessing. At the top is a kneeling pharaoh wearing the Red Crown of Lower Egypt and holding a large hes-vase, the hieroglyph for praise, in his outstretched hands. The hieroglyphs below form the expression ‘powerful in the heart’
