Offering tablet of Djefaihapi

Middle Kingdom–Early New Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 106

Along one edge of this tablet are seven small wells, one for each of the sacred oils used during embalming and funerary rites. Above each well is the name of its oil; across the top of the tablet is a prayer requesting offerings for the Sole Companion (an intimate of the king), Djefaihapi.
