Bracelet with wedjat eye amulet

Third Intermediate Period

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 126

One of four bracelets found around the left wrist of the mummy, this single cord of 2-ply linen was strung with a single wedjat eye amulet of blue faience, with six knots on one side and nine on the other. A representation of the healed eye of the god Horus, the amulet would have served magically to protect Henettawy and help ensure her eternal regeneration.
