Middle Kingdom
Not on view
This object is not part of The Met collection. It was in the Museum for a special exhibition and has been returned to the lender.
This carved and painted slab was part of a small chapel dedicated to an official named Senwosret. The slab, divided into three registers, depicts a funerary banquet with an image of Senwosret at the far right. In the top register, a funerary priest performs a libation ritual. The entourage attending the banquet includes a dancer and musicians in the bottom register.
