Ice pail (one of a pair)

Josiah Wedgwood and Sons British

Not on view

After using the model for this pair of ice pails in the “Frog service” for Catherine the Great of Russia, Josiah Wedgwood reused the form in plain creamware versions, sold to middle class consumers who were perhaps less distinguished than the Empress of Russia, but no less discerning in their tastes.
