Byzantine (cup) and French, Paris (stem, base, and mounts)
Byzantine luxury goods such as this hardstone cup were greatly coveted in western Europe. The cup was one of several Byzantine objects acquired by Louis XIV of France, whose artisans fitted it with an ornate foot.
