Among the many designs published in this Venetian needlework pattern book are groppi moreschi e rabeschi—Moorish knots and arabesques. Both are elements directly copied from Islamic designs, especially from metalwork with geometric ornament. Venetian craftsmen of all trades in turn drew inspiration from the patterns in these books.
