Edward C. Moore
Charles Calverley American
In 1894 Calverley modeled this bust of Edward C. Moore (1827–1891), an American silversmith, art collector, and benefactor of The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Three years earlier, Moore had bequeathed his extensive collection of glass, ceramics, and metalwork to the Museum. For many years he was in charge of designing and manufacturing silverware at New York's Tiffany & Co. This portrait was commissioned by Moore's friends as a tribute after his death.
