Annie Sargent Jewett
Probably painted around 1905, this portrait study depicts Annie Sargent Jewett (b. 1872), a nurse for the children of Esther Baldwin Williams (1867–1964). Mrs. Williams was a close friend and student of Prendergast's. This was once considered a study for a portrait of this same sitter by Maurice Prendergast (see 1970.123.1), but this attribution has been withdrawn. It now seems most likely that this drawing was done by another artist, probably Esther Baldwin Williams.
