Rabbits on a Log

Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait American, born England
1897
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 774
This representation of rabbits may have been inspired by illustrated children's stories such as "Uncle Remus" by Joel Chandler Harris (1895). The rabbits may have belonged to Topham Farm in Scarsdale or to one of the farms in Orange or Putnam Counties which Tate visited while living in Yonkers from 1897 until his death in 1905.
