Edwards executed this vase during his studies at the Pennsylvania Museum School of Industrial Art. Although he worked in many media, there are few surviving examples of his ceramics. His most celebrated commission remains the decorations for the Swedenborgian cathedral in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania.
