Hat
The late 1930s brought a revival of the diminutive hats popular in the 1870s. Newly dubbed "doll hats," the small creations, frequently trimmed with flowers and veils, perched at an angle above the brow. Despite the critics who deemed the small size of the hats frivolous, Sally Milgrim and other designers produced versions at a range of prices. This example bears a "Salymil" label from the secondary line of clothing and accessories Milgrim added in 1933. By offering this line, Milgrim provided a fashionable answer to women affected by the economic strains of the decade.
