Jacket

Department Store Best & Co. American
1936
Not on view
This infant's jacket is exquisitely constructed with dressmaking details including pleating, hemstitching, binding, drop lining and detailed rendering of the rabbits. The manufacturer and retailer, Best & Co. was renowned for fine luxury merchandise and Liliputian Bazaar was at the apex of childrenswear venues in New York. The charming logo of a human hand holding small figures refers to the Lilliputians in "Gulliver's Travels."
