Shoes

Designer Silvia Fiorentina American
ca. 1967
Not on view
Silvia Sappia Baldi, professionally know by the name Silvia Fiorentina, started the Fiorentina line in 1957. Fiorentina has remained true to her personal aesthetic rather than conforming to trends. Her elegant shoes typically feature low backs, curved arches, high vamps and sweeping sidelines which dip to the back. For this pair of tie shoes, a distinctive material has been used to enliven a traditional style. The various elements are particularly well-proportioned, and the fairly simple treatment makes for a pleasing and wearable design.
