The subtle blending of colors in this presentation drawing could be more or less duplicated in the multihued opalescent glass produced by Tiffany Studios. To fabricate this window, the watercolor drawing would have been translated into a full-scale cartoon. Next, a duplicate cartoon would have been made and then cut up into templates to guide the placement and color scheme of the individual pieces of glass in the window. As an example of how Wilson, and by extension Tiffany Studios, recycled certain motifs, the Christian soldier in the center is identical to a figure Wilson had used sixteen years earlier in a memorial window at the United States Naval Academy.
