The Barbarigo Armorial

Italian, Venice

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 503

The painted coat of arms at the center of this magnificent feat of carving are surrounded by carved figures of the Seven Cardinal Virtues. The arms of Count Nicolo Antonio Giustiniani Barbarigo are nineteenth-century replacements for the earlier arms of the Barbarigo family.
