Artist-potters associated with Art Nouveau condemned historical revivalism. Ceramicists were not, however, opposed to utilizing Neoclassical forms and themes, as long as they were modernized. Here Deck updates the shape of a Greek column-krater with a bright color palette that is purely nineteenth-century in style.
