Glass bottle

Roman

Not on view

Translucent brownish yellow; handle in opaque white.

Thick rim folded out, over, and in, and partially flattened into side of mouth; cylindrical neck expanding downward and joining imperceptibly with ovoid body; pushed-in bottom with rounded edge. Strap handle drawn up and outward, with an upward fold pressed flat at top, and trailed off above join to body.

Intact bottle; handle also intact but now detached; some bubbles and blowing striations; some areas of dulling, faint pitting, and iridescent weathering, others of thick, creamy weathering, especially around neck and rim.

The handle fits the contour of the bottle well and so may originally have belonged, but there is little trace of its attachment and both the side of the vessel and the ends of the handle are weathered.
