Inscription: The sheet is inscribed in pen and ink, lower right:
"J'offre a Monsieur Ducornet ce / dessin de mon mari. / Sophie Rude 6 juin 1856."

On the back of the frame/mount in pen and ink:
"Fr. Rude. / Dessins pour la Chasse de Meleagre. / Bas reliefs au chateau du Terveuren. (1822) / incendie en 1879 / Les moulages sont conserves au Musee des arts decoratifs a Bruxelles et au Musee de Dijon / 7 Juin 1912 Vente Haro"; Octagonal stamp [of the Haro sale?]: 289 / ...Rude / veor ; Exhibition label from Bernheim-Jeune, Paris: Cent-cinquante ans de dessin, Dec 1952 - Mar 1953; Inscription in graphite: "Salomon / Rude"; also the following numbers: "1896 / no. 289"; "N 13/21"; "155"; "3547"; "22"; "81".

Marking: The drawing has been dry mounted onto heavy cream-colored laid paper bearing the watermark of a shield; the larger sheet measures 11-1/4 23-1/2 in. (28.5 x 59.7 cm).
