Rowel Spur

second half 17th century
Not on view
The body of this elegant spur is decorated with geometric designs and acanthus leaves in relief. Now overcleaned, the motifs used to stand out on a black background still preserved on the neck. The rowel alternates sharp and blunt points, moderating its severity.
