Ewer with a Handle in the Shape of a Griffin Claw, from "Series of Vases after the Antique"

Ewer with a handle in the shape of a griffin claw, the top of which morphs into a Lion. The body of the vase is decorated with satyr masks and a crayfish from which a slim garland is suspended. Eighth plate from a series of twelve vases after the antique, engraved by Antonio Veneziano dated 1530-1533. The prints were later published again by Antonio Salamanca. The same vase is also included in another series of vase designs after the Antique by Enea Vico and Agostino Veneziano, published by Antonio Lafreri around 1573.
