Theatrical costume with fur trimmings

1933–39
Not on view
Drawing, design for a man's costume, part of a group of 88 costume designs by Vincente Minnelli. The costume consists of a short-sleeved orange shirt, worn under a light purplish-gray vest, possibly of fur, and high-waisted purple trousers with a white belt and green straps tied around the waist. A green cape lined with purple hangs behind his back. Brown boots lined with fur cover his feet. A green hat with a purple feather is on his head. The male figure represented wearing the costume is holding a boar's head with his right hand, which is lifted above him. A cloth swatch of gray fur is attached to the upper right corner of the sheet.
