Not on view

Danjuro V wears voluminous black robes with huge, massive sleeves on which appears the large character kin for Kintoki, indicating Danjuro's portrayal of Sakata Kintoki, one of four dauntless retainers of the warrior Minamoto Yorimitsu (d. 1021), who was also known as Raiko. The strong profile of the actor enhances the forceful portrayal. The sudare curtain partially shown at the top probably formed a continuous motif linking prints from an original set of five that portrayed the other three retainers and Raiko.
