Bowl
This type of bowl, with a thin body and a highly schematized representation of a port town painted in vivid underglaze blue, is a standard example of late-sixteenth-century export ware from Jingdezhen. Large numbers of these bowls have been found in Southeast Asia in recent decades. Its comparative rarity in Europe is evidenced by the addition of gilt-silver mounts, which also increase its usefulness.
