Design for a Ceiling with a Blank Center and an Ornate Border with Medallions at Each of the Curved Corners, from a Series of Six Plates with Ceiling Designs, part of Œuvres du Sr. D. Marot
Design for a ceiling with a blank center framed by a thick ornamental border. Each corner of the blank panel curves inward and follows the shape of the oval medallions in the corners of the frame. The medallions depict seated allegorical figures and are flanked by cornucopias. From an untitled series of six plates with ceiling designs, five of which show trompe l'oeil paintings with mythological scenes in the central compartment. The last plate has a blank central compartment.
