Halt of Caravans at the Wells of Saba (Beersheba) in the Desert South of Hebron
Charles de Coubertin French
Not on view
References to the wells of Abraham, as they are commonly known, are found in Genesis (21:23–24 and 26:23–33). Coubertin typically painted religious subjects, but in this picture he depicted the site as a scene of contemporary life. This painting was exhibited at the Paris Salon of 1850–51.
